"The Development Behind O2K™"

The O2K Neuro-Nutrition™ Plan came about from the original idea of J.F. Robert Bolduc, Matol’s Co-founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, of creating a weight loss plan involving oxygen and the nervous system. The Plan came to fruition when Robert was introduced to Andrée Roberge, Ph. D. She provided extensive research in neurochemistry and they agreed that oxygen and neuroceuticals could truly work hand in hand.

The O2K Neuro-Nutrition™ Plan was jointly designed by Dr. Roberge and a team of Matol researchers including Kristine Clark, Ph. D., R. D.

Dr. Andrée Roberge is a leading nutrition research scientist and neurochemist from Quebec City, Canada. She completed her Ph. D. at the University of Laval’s School of Medicine and did her postdoctoral training at McGill University in neurochemistry. In 1972, she was involved in the Neurobiology Research Center and was a Scholar of the Medical Research Council of Canada.

In 1974, Dr. Roberge went to the University Claude-Bernard, in Lyon, France where she studied with Michel Jouvet, an internationally recognized researcher involved in sleep mechanisms. In 1978, the National Research Council of Canada invited her to participate in a study on the exposure to cold. Following these research activities, Dr. Roberge was successfully involved in studies on Alzheimer’s disease, schizophrenia and diseases related to stress such as obesity. Since 1996, she has been involved in the biotechnological business.

Her research produced the following results:
  • The brain is highly susceptible to its nutritional environment
  • The key link between brain function and diet lies in neurotransmitters
  • The brain distinguishes between nutrients
  • Amino acids which cross the blood-brain barrier allow for the regulation of appetite
  • The brain must be fed correctly to ensure the stable maintenance of its vital functions.

Dr. Kristine Clark has been with Matol for over 10 years and is the Chairperson of Matol’s Health and Nutrition Board. As the Director of Sports Nutrition at Penn State University, she works with some of the top athletes in the country and her job is to make sure they get the right nutrients for optimal performance.
